On Holy Cross Sunday, the Primates of the Orthodox Church in America and the Russian Church Abroad celebrate Divine Liturgy

On Sunday of the Holy Cross, 16 March, 2026, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of Washington and All America, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, and His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, concelebrated Divine Liturgy and the Synod Cathedral of Our Lady "of the Sign" in New York City. They were joined by Archpriste Andrei Sommer, Dean of the Cathedral, and Archpriest Alessandro Margheritino, Chancellor of the OCA, along with the cathedral clergy.

Divine services were performed in the presence of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God, as Vadim Gan conducted the Cathedral Choir.

The Hierarchs exchanged greetings and mementos at the end of Liturgy.

After the Lenten trapeza lucheon, the Primates shared tea as they discussed matters of mutual interest. Fr Andrei, Fr Alessandro and Archpriest Serafim Gan, Chancellor of the Synod of ROCOR, participated.
