The services of the Primate of the Russian Church Abroad
On Sunday, September 21, 2025, the feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York presided over celebrations dedicated to the patronal feast and the 75th anniversary of the Nativity of the Theotokos Church parish in Albany, NY. His Eminence was joined by His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada, His Grace Bishop Luke of Syracuse, the Rector of the church, Archpriest Alexis Duncan, the parish clergy, guests in holy orders and a large gathering of parishioners and worshipers.
On Wednesday, September 24, on the day of the glorification of Blessed Xenia of Petersburg by the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, His Eminence visited the church dedicated to this saint in Methuen, MA. Concelebrating with Metropolitan Nicholas were the Rector of the church, Archpriest Michael Crowley, the parish clergy, representatives of other Local Orthodox Churches, and diocesan clergy. Parishioners and worshipers, gathered in large numbers, received communion from three chalices.
On Thursday, September 25, on the Afterfeast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, Metropolitan Nicholas, accompanying the Miracle-working Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God, visited St George Classical Academy in Ipswich, MA. There His Eminence met with the director, Juliana Schneider, students and pupils, toured all the facilities, and learned about the life of the school. On the same day, His Eminence visited Mt Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA, where he served a requiem at the grave of the late benefactor of the Synod of Bishops and the Athonite St Elias Skete, Sergei Semenenko, who in the late 1950s generously donated the Synodal Residence in New York City to the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad.
Donations are being accepted for the renovation of this historical landmark.
On September 26-27, at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign” in New York, Metropolitan Nicholas performed all the services for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, including the Rite of Exaltation, concelebrated by Cathedral Dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer and the cathedral clergy.
