NEW YORK: December 6, 2023
On the feast day of St. Alexander Nevsky, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad consecrates antimensions

On Wednesday, December 6, the feast day of St Alexander Nevsky and St Mitrophan, Bishop of Voronezh, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York consecrated antimensia in St Sergius of Radonezh Chapel at the Synodal Residence of the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in New York City.

Concelebrating with His Eminence were Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Dean of the Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign” and Vice Chairman of the Synodal Youth Department; Archpriest Mark Burachek, Rector of Kazan Church in Newark, New Jersey, and Archpriest Serafim Gan, Chancellor of the Synod of Bishops and Secretary of the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

Upon completion of the rite of consecration of the antimensia, His Eminence officiated at the Divine Liturgy. During the service, a special commemoration was made of the ever-memorable Bishop Mitrophan (Znosko-Borovsky), who died on feast day of the Meeting of the Lord in 2002.

At the end of Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Nicholas congratulated all those present on the feast, wishing everyone the prayerful help of the saints being celebrated and expressing gratitude to all for their participation in the work of God.
