Schedule for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the uncovering of the relics of St John of Shanghai
With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America, the celebration of the 30th anniversary (1993-2023) of the Finding of the Relics of St John, Wonderworker of Shanghai and San Francisco is announced. Usually this secondary St John feast is marked on October 12 (this year – a weekday), but in light of the First Primatial Visit of the Newly-Elected Metropolitan Nicholas to the Western American Diocese, and in order to make it possible for as many clergy and people as possible to attend, it has been decided to move the 30th celebration to Saturday, September 30.

Thursday, September 28:
7:00 PM: Akathist to St John in his sepulchre – the lower church of the Finding of St John’s relics.
Friday, September 29:
5:15 PM: Transfer of St John’s relics into the center of Holy Virgin Cathedral.
6:00 PM: Vigil
Saturday, September 30:
8:30 AM: 3rd and 6th Hours.
9:00 AM: Greeting of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas. Divine Liturgy and Procession.
Following the service a festal luncheon will be offered in the cathedral fellowship hall. |
