A seminar on the history of the Liturgical music of the Russian diaspora is hosted by St Tikhon Orthodox University

On June 5, 2023, an academic seminar was held within the framework of the program "Liturgical and Vocal Culture of the Russian Orthodox Church: History, Theory, Practice" developed by the Department of Liturgical Singing of St Tikhon Orthodox University.

The head of the research group is IP Shekhovtsova, Professor of Art History, Associate Professor of the Department of History and Theory of Music of St Tikhon Orthodox University . The head of the academic seminar is ON Sokolova, Professor of Art History, Associate Professor of the Department of History and Theory of Music of St Tikhon's Orthodox University.

The theme of the seminar was the problem of studying the spiritual musical heritage in the Russian diaspora.

The first lecture on Paschal hymns in the context of the work of the famous church composer, choir director and choral conductor Boris Mikhailovich Ledkovsky was delivered by MA Kiryushina, teacher at the Department of Liturgical Singing. She presented an essay on the work of Ledkovsky, focusing separately on the characteristics of the Paschal chants, dispersed in several collections of spiritual and musical works of the composer published at various times.

The second lecture was by EN Sadikova, Professor of Art History, senior lecturer of the Department of Choral Conducting, covering Russian church choirs and their leaders in Germany during the first and second waves of emigration, among them Semyon Dmitrievich Ignatiev.
