Holy Pentecost at Ascension of the Lord Convent on the Mt of Olives

On Sunday, June 4, 2023, the feast of Pentecost, the sisters of Ascension of the Lord Convent on the Mt of Olives decorated the Church of the Ascension of the Lord with greenery and flowers. Entering the church, one felt that it truly was “the namesday of the earth” (an old Russian saying), and divine services expressed this joy.

The clergy of the monastery co-served with the Chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky). After Divine Liturgy, vespers were served during which Fr Roman, Archimandrite Innokenty (Sereda) and Hegumen Jonah (Galishnikov) read the prayers of repentance on their knees compiled by St Basil the Great. The prayers also commemorate all the departed Orthodox Christians and pray for the repose of their souls.
