Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany leads feast-day celebrations at the main cathedral in Germany

On Sunday, February 5, 2023, the Cathedral of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia in Munich celebrated its feast day. Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany; His Eminence Archbishop Tikhon of Ruza (Moscow Patriarchate) and His Grace Bishop Jovan of Pakrac and Slavonia (Serbian Orthodox Church). Concelebrating were clerics of the cathedral and visiting clergymen.

In his sermon Vladyka Jovan noted the special podvigi of the New Martyrs as confessors of the faith, and told of the sufferings of martyrs who had died on the territory of his diocese, in the concentration camp of Jacenovac in Croatia.

After Liturgy, a moleben and procession of the cross took place, after which Many Years was sung for the hierarchs, parishioners and those celebrating their namesday. Eternal Memory was then sung for the cathedral’s clergymen and parishioners who had passed away.

A trapeza luncheon was then offered to all those in attendance.
