KIEV: December 8, 2021
Bishop Theodosius of Seattle participates in the consecration of a new church in Kiev Lavra of the Caves

On December 7, 2021, the feast day of Holy Great Martyr Catherine and St Merkury of Pechersk, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onouphry of Kiev and All Ukraine led the consecration of a new Church of St Agapit of Pechersk at the Kievan Dormition Lavra of the Caves in Ukraine’s capital, as reported by the UOC’s information portal.

After the rite of Great Consecration, His Eminence performed the first Divine Liturgy in the temple.

The Primate of Ukraine was joined by hierarchs of his Church along with His Grace Bishop Theodosius of Seattle, Vicar of the Western American Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, and clerics of the monastery.

Singing was performed by graduates of Litanna Music School at the Lavra. During the service, augmented prayers were intoned for the end of the pandemic, and for the health of patients and medical personnel.

At the conclusion of the service, a laudation of the Mother of God was performed.
