GENEVA: September 30, 2020
Elevation of the Holy Cross Cathedral in Geneva marks its feast day

The feast day of the Elevation of the Holy Cross of the Lord fell on a Sunday this year, and the Geneva Cathedral dedicated to the holiday celebrated. With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, who, due to restrictions, could not visit the city, celebrations were led by His Grace Bishop Alexander of Vevey. He was joined by Protopriest Pavel Tsvetkoff and Emilian Pocinoc, Archdeacon Dometian (Redko); participating in vigil were also Priest Aviv Dialo-Salliu and Protodeacon Michel Verna of Vevey. According to tradition, Protopriest Mikhail Gundiaev and his parish from the stavropighial Church of the Nativity of the Most-Holy Mother of God (Moscow Patriarchate) attended Liturgy. The church was filled beyond capacity, with some attendees traveling from neighboring France.

Bishop Alexander performed the Rite of the Elevation of the Cross with his clergymen. After Liturgy the next day, a procession of the cross was performed.
