JERUSALEM: October 15, 2019
The feast day of St Chariton Lavra is celebrated in Fara

On Friday, October 11, 2019, the feast day of St Chariton the Confessor, the founder of Palestinian monasticism, the first monastery he founded hosted a celebration in his memory.

On the eve of the holiday, Archimandrite Vasily (Druzhinets) of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem led all-night vigil. Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Friday by Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), Chief of the REM. Participating in the event were nuns from Ascension of the Lord Convent on the Mt of Olives and St Mary Magdalene, Equal-to-the-Apostles, in Gethsemane, as well as pilgrims from Russia and Ukraine.

A moleben and procession of the cross to the grave of St Chariton followed, after which a festive trapeza luncheon was shared by the worshipers.
