The Transfiguration of the Lord is celebrated at Geneva's Elevation of the Holy Cross Cathedral

A multitude of worshipers were in attendance at Divine Liturgy at Elevation of the Holy Cross Cathedral in Geneva, Switzerland, on August 19, 2018, the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, which this year fell on a Sunday. Some 200 adults and children partook of the Holy Gifts.

Protopriest Pavel Tsvetkoff delivered a sermon, noting that the Son of God did not appear in His Divine glory, for the light would have blinded sinful men. Christ came down to earth in a humble form, covering His Divinity with the image of a human being, but on Mount Tabor, he revealed Himself in the glory that was His in all eternity. In order to behold the Savior in this way in the life to come, Fr Pavel called upon everyone to pray daily and live in piety.

After the service, the cathedral clergymen blessed grapes, apples and other fruits of the new harvest, sprinkling holy water on the many parishioners. Every worshiper that day received a fruit from the clergymen.
