Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan Commemorates the Reposed Hierarchs of the Russian Church Abroad

On Thursday, August 10, 2017, the anniversary of the repose of Metropolitan Anthony of Kiev and Galicia (Khrapovitstky) of blessed memory, His Grace Bishop Nicholas, leading a large pilgrimage from the USA, Canada and Australia, performed a commemorative litiya in the Church of the 12 Apostles in the city of Capernaum in the Holy Land.

On Wednesday, August 16, the feast day of St Anthony the Roman, which was the namesday of Metropolitan Anthony as well as of his student, Archbishop Anthony (Medvedev), who succeeded St John (Maximovich) on the cathedra of the Western American Diocese of the Russian Church Abroad, Bishop Nicholas celebrated Divine Liturgy at Pokrovsky Convent in Kiev, Ukraine. The aforementioned hierarchs were likewise specially commemorated at that service.

Afterwards, His Grace delivered a heartfelt sermon devoted to the memory of the archpastors.

Abbess Kalisphenia of the convent then hosted a trapeza luncheon in honor of the guests, during which many words of welcome and gratitude were spoken. Vladyka Nicholas and his fellow-travelers were then given a guided tour of the monastery.
