NEW YORK: April 15, 2017
The Holy Fire Will Be Brought the US

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, the Synodal Chancery, with the support of the St Andrew the First-Called Foundation, will have the Holy Fire brought from the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem to New York. It will be the first time that the Holy Fire is brought to the country.

The Holy Fire will be ceremoniously greeted at 12:05 pm on Sunday, April 16, at JFK Airport and taken to the Church of the Mother of God “Inexhaustible Cup” in Brighton Beach in time for Paschal vespers, where it will be distributed to the faithful.

At 3:00 pm, the Holy Fire will be brought to St Seraphim Memorial Church in Sea Cliff, NY, to Paschal vespers.

At 5:00 pm, the Holy Fire will be brought to the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign” in New York City, where His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion and the cathedral clergymen will ceremoniously greet it, after which hierarchal Paschal vespers will be performed.

The Holy Fire will be available to parish rectors all of Bright Week. Advance notification is requested.

The First Hierarch expresses his profound gratitude to St Seraphim Memorial Parish, the Church of the Mother of God “Inexhaustible Cup” and the Synod’s St Zosima Candle Factory for their support for the event.
