On Sunday morning, April 16, 2017, the feast of Holy Pascha of Christ, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Manhattan’s Serbian Orthodox community will celebrate Divine Liturgy, headed by His Grace Bishop Irinej, at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign” in New York.

Over 700 worshipers are expected to attend, parishioners of St Savva Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Manhattan which burned down last year. Details on the event and the trapeza to follow were discussed at a meeting with His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan at the Synod on March 13, along with representatives of both cathedrals and of the Synodal Chancery.

Paschal matins and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at midnight by Metropolitan Hilarion and Bishop Nicholas. Later that morning, at 10 am, services will be celebrated by the Serbian community.

The Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign," will be present at both services. This icon had for many years in the early 20th century been kept by Russian emigres in Yugoslavia, where the headquarters of the Russian Church Abroad were established by the blessing of the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
