NEW YORK: February 28, 2017
His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York Prays at Clean Monday Services at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign”

On Monday morning, February 27, 2017, known as “Clean Monday,” being the first day of Great Lent, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York prayed in the altar during divine services at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign” in New York City. Matins, hours, the typika, vespers and a commemorative litiya. His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, other cathedral clergymen and worshipers were also in attendance.

At the end of services, His Eminence blessed the faithful and wished them a spiritually-profitable Lenten period.

Later that day, Metropolitan Hilarion performed the great compline with the reading of St Andrew of Crete, as the Synodal Choir sang under the direction of Peter Fekula.

His Eminence will celebrate the Liturgy of Pre-Sanctified Gifts on the first Wednesday of Great Lent at the Synodal cathedral.
