Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York Will Visit the Parishes of Great Britain

His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York will celebrate the festive divine services of the Epiphany of the Lord at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady "of the Sign" in New York on January 18-19, 2017. The next day, the Synaxis of St John the Baptist, His Eminence will depart for the Diocese of Great Britain to celebrate divine services and meet with clergymen and laity. Vladyka Metropolitan will remain in the diocese until January 31.

During last December's session. the Synod of Bishops deliberated on matters pertaining to the Diocese of Great Britain, where the magnificent Dormition Cathedral in London is being painted with the finest frescoes under the direction of a teacher from Moscow Theological Academy. The frescoes will be completed this fall, when the great consecration of the cathedral will take place, and the cathedral will be rededicated to the Nativity of the Most-Holy Mother of God. The Synod approved the request of His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany to relieve him of his duty of ruling the Diocese of Great Britain. The diocese will now be under the direct authority of the President of the Synod of Bishops.
