KAZAN, RUSSIA: July 23, 2016
Metropolitan Hilarion to Visit Nizhnekamsk

On July 24, 2016, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, will visit the city of Nizhnekamsk, Russia. Together with His Grace Bishop Parmen of Chistopol and Nizhnekamsk and his clergymen, Vladyka Hilarion will participate in the consecration of a cross on the site of the future construction of a church dedicated to the Nativity of Christ.

Divine services in the new church will be conducted in the Kryashen (Volga Tatar) tongue. There are already such churches in the region, in the towns of Balshykli and Bolshiye Aty. This will be the first in the city of Nizhnekamsk.

The 30-meter-tall, two-story brick building will be a beautiful addition to the city, and designed by architects from the city of Penza. A tall bell tower, vaulted ceilings, ornamented columns, and the lower floor will contain a baptistery.

A similar church is being built in the town of Egorkino, Nurlatsky region. A group of about thirty pilgrims from the USA will accompany Metropolitan Hilarion, and will arrive on a ship. In addition to Nizhnekamsk, the pilgrims will visit Moscow, Kazan, Elabuga, Sarapul and cities of the Ural.
