Elevation of the Holy Cross Cathedral Bids Farewell to the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign"

On Sunday, August 16, 2015, the feast day of St Anthony the Roman, Miracle-Worker of Novgorod, the patron saint of Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovitsky), first Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Elevation of the Cross Cathedral in Geneva, Switzerland, was the site of Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Eminence Archbishop Michael of Geneva and Western Europe and His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, Vice Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, the caretaker of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign," which was present at the service.This Liturgy marked the final celebration during the visit of the holy icon to the German and Western European Dioceses of the Russian Church Abroad.

Later that evening, Vladyka Nicholas departed for New York with the Kursk-Root Icon, which will be returned to the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign in time for the Transfiguration of the Lord.
