NEW YORK: September 10, 2014
Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York Officiates at Divine Liturgy at New York�s Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady �of the Sign� on the 13 th Sunday of Pentecost

On Sunday, September 7, 2014, the 13 th Sunday of Pentecost, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, officiated at Divine Liturgy at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady �of the Sign,� together with His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, Vice Secretary of the Synod of Bishops. The hierarchs were joined by Protopriest Andrei Sommer, Senior Priest of the cathedral, Hieromonk Evtikhy (Dovganiuk), Protodeacon Nicolas Mokhoff, Protodeacon Vadim Gan, Deacon Nathan Mousselli, Deacon Nazary Fataliev, Deacon Dionisy Lvov and Deacon Alexei Zhukov.

After the service, Vladyka Hilarion read a sermon on the interpretation of the Parable of the Husbandmen of the Vineyard, and called upon all to tend to our own spiritual vineyards. His Eminence congratulated the cathedral�s clergyman Fr Evtikhy on his namesday; he was given the name of St Eutichius, disciple of Apostle John the Evangelist, upon his tonsure; Vladyka Hilarion also congratulated all those who bear the names Natalia and Adrian, whose feast day was the next day.
Later, Fr Andrei performed a moleben for the beginning of the school year in St Sergius Chapel on the first floor. Students, teachers and parents attended the service, performed before the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign,� after which Fr Andrei sprinkled the worshipers with holy water. The cathedral�s sisterhood prepared a luncheon for the children.
