The Congress of Russian Americans and the Organizing Committee for the 13 th All-Diaspora Russian Orthodox Youth Conference Will Host a Celebration of the 150 th Anniversary of the Arrival of Russian Vessels to New York and San Francisco

On Friday, December 20, 2013 , the Russian Center in San Francisco, CA, will be the site of a collaborative effort by the Congress of Russian Americans and the Organizing Committee of the 13 th All-Diaspora Russian Orthodox Youth Conference: an evening honoring the 150 th anniversary of the arrival of Russian vessels into New York and San Francisco. The event will open with a lecture by Professor Anatol Shmelev, Curator, Russia and Eurasia Collection of the Hoover Institution of Stanford University, titled “Russian-American Relations and the Visit of Russian Naval Squadrons to America.”

A documentary, Tsar Alexander II and President Lincoln, Liberator and Emancipator will then be shown, followed by a concert by the Suvorov Cadet Corps “Rodnya.” The event will also include an exhibition of pictures and drawings from “Armin” Art Studio, and cocktails.

Admission is free, but donations to the 13 th All-Diaspora Russian Orthodox Youth Conference will be accepted.
