Metropolitan Hilarion Celebrates Divine Liturgy on the Transfiguration of the Lord and Ordains a Deacon in the Synodal Cathedral
On Monday, August 19, 2013, the feast day of Transfiguration of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion led Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady "of the Sign." The First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad was joined by the cathedral's clergy: Protopriest Andrei Sommer, Priest Nicholas Olhovsky - the caretaker of the Kursk-Rook Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign," Hieromonk Tikhon (Gaifudinov) and Protodeacon Nicolas Mokhoff. During Liturgy, Subdeacon Nizariy Fataliyeff was ordained to the diaconate by His Eminence. After Liturgy, Metropolitan Hilarion blessed the newly-harvested fruits in accordance to tradition. The clergy and the parishioners enjoyed a bountiful festal meal prepared by the Sisterhood of the cathedral.
