Bishop Theodosius of Seattle Leads All-Night Vigil at Gorny Convent on the Eve of the Feast Day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God

On Saturday, July 20, 2013, the eve of the feast day of the Kazan Icon of the Most-Holy Mother of God, all-night vigil at Kazan Church in Gorny Convent was led by His Grace Bishop Theodosius of Seattle, Vicar of the Western American Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. He was joined by Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), Chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Isidor (Minaev), head of the mission of the Moscow Patriarchate, clergymen of the Mission and other clergymen making a pilgrimage to the Holy Land with Vladyka Theodosius.

At the end of the service, Bishop Theodosius congratulated everyone in attendance on the feast day of Gorny Convent and gave them, as a gift, an icon of St John of Shanghai and San Francisco with a portion of his relics.

Afterwards, according to a long-standing tradition, 12 akathists to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God were read in memory of the miraculous deliverance of the convent from a cholera epidemic in the early 20 th century.
