The Chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem Celebrates Divine Liturgy at the Podvorie of the Holy Fathers and Moleben at the Oak of Mambre

In accordance with tradition, a solemn service is performed on the third day of Holy Pentecost at the Podvorie [representation] of the Holy Fathers in Hebron, where the Holy Trinity first appeared to Abraham in the form of three angels at the Oak of Mambre. Traditionally, members of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, abbesses and nuns of the Russian convents in Jerusalem visit on this day, along with members of the diplomatic corps of Orthodox nations, in order to pray at Divine Liturgy on the site of the Divine appearance to mankind.

On June 25, 2013, Divine Liturgy was led by the Chief of the Mission of the Russian Church Abroad, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky). He was joined by the Mission’s clergymen and those of the Church of Jerusalem.

Praying at the service was the abbess of Gorny Convent and her nuns, as well as monastics from the Mt of Olives and Gethsemane Convents, Russian pilgrims and Orthodox Arabs.

The monks of Russia’s Holy Trinity-St Sergius Lavra sang at Liturgy.

Afterwards, a procession of the cross went to the Oak of Mambre, where a moleben was performed.
