NEW YORK: October 15, 2012
An Evening with Protopriest Artemy (Vladimirov)

Our life on this earth is a time given to us to be transformed for the better.  This transformation is not a road we travel alone. Our life on this earth is a ladder we try to climb from earth into Heaven with the help of Our Lord Jesus Christ in His Church. This difficult climb requires good shepherds, it requires their spiritual experience and their insight. We are calling you to take part in a meeting with such a shepherd - father Artemy Vladimirov who serves in the Church of All Saints in Krasnoye Selo in Moscow. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, in the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad in Manhattan (75 East 93rd Street, New York, NY).

“If you are mistreated, you feel offended, if someone steps on your foot, you feel the pain. But when our life on earth comes to an end, our soul will be rid of the body and will feel everything even more acutely and hurt even more easily.  If our soul does not take care to cover her in the shining cloth of humility and joy, in the cloth of righteousness – it will then be a difficult road up to God’s Throne”, so writes father Artemy in his work On Humility and Love.

Father Artemy is a frequent guest of television programs. He is a member of the Russian Association of Writers and teaches at Saint Tikhon University, where he is the Dean of the Department of Homiletics. Father Artemy is a bearer of numerous awards from the Orthodox Church. An evening with him is a rare chance to take one step up the ladder of spiritual growth, a growth without which our life turns into a senseless wandering.

The beginning of the talk is at 7:00 pm on the second floor of the Synod of Bishops. Parallel translation into English will take place.

There will also be a book by Protopriest Andrei Sommer, From West to East: Experience of the youth service mission at the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, presented at the event.

In Christ!
