Protopriest Evgeny Sapronov Departs to the Lord

On May 19, 2012, after a long illness, Protopriest Evgeny Sapronov departed to the Lord, having served at the Memorial Church of St Job of Pochaev in Brussels, Belgium, for many years.

Fr Evgeny meekly bore his heavy cross of illness and sufferings without grumbling to the very end. He died, by Divine mercy, on the feast day of the heavenly protector of his church, St Job the Much-Suffering (May 6/19), whom Fr Evgeny emulated in the podvig of long-suffering and faith.

Archbishop Simon of Brussels and Belgium expressed his profound sympathies to the wife of Fr Evgeny, to his relatives and friends, and also to the ruling bishop of his diocese, Archbishop Michael of Geneva and Western Europe.

May the Lord receive His faithful servant in the abodes of the righteous!

Protopriest Evgeny's funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 23, at the Memorial Church. Divine Liturgy will begin at 8:45 and the funeral at 11 am.
