The Senior Priest of the Russian Church Abroad Dies

On Friday evening, March 2, 2012, at approximately 9:30 pm, Protopresbyter Konstantin Tivetsky died in his home at the age of 86 after a brief illness. He was a clergyman of Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in Los Angeles. Measuring by the date of his ordination, he was the senior cleric of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, having been ordained to the deaconate then the priesthood in 1948.

He studied at Odessa Theological Seminary and Moscow Theological Academy. Fr Konstantin served in parishes of Moscow oblast, then found himself in the USA, where he served in San Francisco, Seattle and Los Angeles. He was a kind and bright soul, enjoying the love and respect of everyone who knew him.
