WESTERN AMERICAN DIOCESE: June 10, 2011
Sacramento’s Holy Ascension Church Marks the 25th Year of the Clerical Service of Its Rector

As reported by the official website of the Western American Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, the 25th anniversary of Protopriest Paul Volmensky, rector of Holy Ascension Church in Sacramento, CA, was celebrated on June 2, 2011, the feast day of the parish. The celebrations were headed by His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America. Participating in the service and a procession of the cross that followed were clergymen of the Western American Diocese and representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church in America, and also Fr Paul’s brother-in-law, Deacon Paul Drozdovsky. During the minor entrance, in accordance with a decision of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Archbishop Kyrill awarded Fr Paul Volmensky the ornamented cross. In a symbol of filial love and respect for their rector, the parishioners also gave Fr Paul a gift—a trip to Jerusalem, Mt Athos, and the Monastery of St John the Baptist in Essex, England.

The Editors of the official website of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia wish to also congratulate Fr Paul, a kind and earnest servant of the Church of Christ.
