Metropolitan Hilarion Visits Holy Trinity-St Sergius Lavra
On September 19-20, 2009, the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia venerated the holy relics of Holy Trinity-St Sergius Lavra. The delegates kissed the relics of St Sergius, the Hegumen of the Russian Land, during all-night vigil, then proceeded to the grave of Archimandrite Matfei (Mormylya), where His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion served a funerary litany.
The next morning, His Eminence officiated at Divine Liturgy along with His Eminence Archbishop Feognost of St Sergius-Posad, the ROCOR delegates and the monastery clergymen. In blessed memory of the prayer services, Metropolitan Hilarion presented Vladyka Feognost and the Lavra's brethren a copy of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God.
After the monastic trapeza, the delegates of the Russian Church Abroad visited the Moscow Theological schools, where they were warmly welcomed by His Eminence Archbishop Evgeny of Verey.
