MOSCOW: August 4, 2009
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill Sends Condolences To the First Hierarch of the Church Abroad Over the Repose of Bishop Ambroise (Cantacuzene)

To His Eminence HILARION,
Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York,
President of the Synod of Bishops of the
Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia

Your Eminence, dear Vladyka Hilarion:

I wish to express to you, to the episcopate, clergymen and flock of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia my condolences in connection with the repose of His Grace Bishop Ambroise (Cantacuzene).

The late archpastor labored much in the harvest-fields of Christ, garnering for himself a good name among his brother bishops, clerics and Orthodox laity of Europe.

It was with humility and meekness that he accepted Divine Providence, staunchly bearing all the burdens of illness, serving as a worthy example of the endurance of sorrows and the unshaking hope in Christ the Savior.

I pray to the Omnipotent Lord that He grant peace to His faithful servant in the heavenly abode and grant consolation to all those whose hearts are filled with sorrow over this loss.

With love in Christ,

+KIRILL
PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
