NEW YORK: October 31, 2009
The Primate of the Russian Church Abroad Sends a Greeting to the 9th Annual Theological Conference “Theology and the Lay Sciences: Traditional and Modern Connections”

To His Eminence Archbishop Anastasy
of Kazan and Tatarstan

Your Eminence, Esteemed Vladyka!

God-loving Fathers of Kazan Theological Seminary, dear brothers and sisters, participants of the 9th Annual Conference “Theology and Lay Sciences: Traditional and Modern Connections”:

Allow me to greet you and wish God’s help in the work of this Conference. It seems to me that the topic of this event is crucial in our time. The mutually-enriching bonds between theological and lay sciences such as philology, psychology and philosophy promote society’s gradual coming into the Church, and are important for missionary work.

I wish to express the hope that your international conference will include the participation of a greater and greater number of the flock of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

May the Lord bless you!

+Hilarion
Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York,
First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia
