Representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia Participate in a Theological Conference at Orthodox St Tikhon Humanitarian University

From January 26-28, 2006, the 16 th annual Theological Conference at Orthodox St Tikhon Humanitarian University was held. Every year, the OSTHU gathers the leading specialists in the lives of the New Martyrs of Russia and the history of the Russian Church in the 20 th century to share the latest research in these areas.

Hieromonk Evfimy (Longvinov) and Nun Vassa (Larin) of the Diocese of Berlin and Germany participated in the main section of the Conference: "The History of the Russian Orthodox Church in the 20 th Century." Hieromonk Evfimy lectured on "The View of the All-Russian Council of 1917-1918 by the Bishops of ROCOR [Based on Documents of the Council of Bishops of ROCOR of 1964 and 1967)," touching upon the difficult question of the application of the All-Russian Council in ecclesiastical practice. Nun Vassa spoke on "The Self-Recognition of ROCOR at the Third All-Diaspora Council of 1974." This addressed the complicated question of the self-isolation of ROCOR during His Eminence Metropolitan Philaret, the fourth First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
